Agent 007 (Daniel Craig) is a very mad man in Quantum of Solace, a cold and vengeful chapter in the James Bond saga with little interest in coherence, and even less in the kind of sensual pleasures and vicarious high-life thrills once anticipated from movies about Her Majesty's best-dressed secret service agent.
The villain in this latest installment is very effective. He’s one of the few, in fact if not mistaken the only, Bond villain to not have some sort of gimmick to his persona. There’s no bleeding eye, no scar, no limp, no white cat; this is just a guy who’s very intelligent, exacting, and who knows what he wants. In that way he’s not the most intimidating of the repertoire of Bond villains, and subsequently not the most memorable, but the way they handled the required “bad guy”. He’s played by Mathieu Amalric, who may recognise from the absolutely wonderful The Diving Bell and the Butterfly. picturesque locales? Bolivia, Haiti, Austria and Italy are featured or impersonated, to perfectly nice touristic effect. Gizmos? A bit disappointing, to tell the truth. Technological advances in the real world may not quite have outpaced those in the Bond universe, but so many movies these days show off their global video surveillance set-ups and advanced smart-phone applications that it’s hard for this one to distinguish itself.
Now, that the films have never really been run together as a series in the strictest sense. Until now, none of the Bond films were directly linked together, but there have always been some themes and moderate character development despite their focus on evil villains, women, cars, and big action. Quantum of Solace we have some very strong seeds for the events that led Bond to become the Bond that we know. In essence, this movie is not really about the beloved Bond, but the origins of the beloved Bond, and the way the film play out from start to finish enforces that fact. With this film laying the groundwork for the sociopath good buy Bond and introduction of a new super secret villain group we are all set to move forward with the new era of Bond.
There is an extraordinary love story in every ordinary jodi! And one such ordinary jodi is that of Surinder Sahni and Taani in ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’.The movie, a love story, is directed by Aditya Chopra who is returning to direction after eight years since Mohabbatein .
Shahrukh Khan , who has worked in the two previous flicks Aditya Chopra has directed (including Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge ), once again plays the lead role. The female lead is played by a newcomer named Anushka Sharma .
Love can happen to anyone and once it does it engulfs us into it completely and gives us those miraculous experiences that only love can yield. This is what happened to Surinder Sahni (Shahrukh Khan), a simple, clean-hearted, honest man working for Punjab Power.
Surinder is leading a humdrum life when he meets his total opposite and finds love in the flamboyant, fun-loving and vivacious Taani (Anushka). For Taani the whole world is her canvas and she paints her own life with colors of rainbow. But then, unforeseen circumstances change it all. They separate them and bring them together. What follows is a journey filled with laughter, tears, joy, pain, music, dance and a lot of love. ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’ tells a story that makes us believe that there is an extraordinary love story in every ordinary jodi!
The movie has both SRK and Anushka in two different get-ups. The first one is an ordinary look in which SRK wears loose pants and shirts and has his hair oiled and combed to one side. Second is a dude look with spikey hair and clean-shaven face. , according to grapevine, in the second half of the movie, SRK turns from a boring guy to a handsome dude who participates with Anushka in a dance competition and wins her love.Anushka, too, has two makeovers in the film. She dresses up traditionally in salwar-kameez for one part of the film. In another part, she dons designer dresses. The music of ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’ is given by Salim-Sulaiman. The lyrics are by Jaideep Sahni. Made under the banner of Yashraj Films , Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi is set to hit the theatres on December 12.
Yuvvaraj
Director:
Subhash Ghai
Cast:
Salman khan, Anil kapoor, katrina kaif , zayed khan, boman Irani, mithun chakraborty, Aushima sawhbey, ect.
Genres:
Drama/Musical
The story[Ghai] mirrors a universal turth. greed leads to disputes and in turn, urins all relationships. A fact you've heard or witnessed time and again in real life. while the story is captivating, the screenplay doesn't really do justice to the thought. Also, Rahman's music acts as a soothing balm, but the problem is , it takes time to grow on the listener. And that could be a deterrent.
Deven Yuvvraaj [Salman Khan] is a chorus singer, in love with Anushka [Katrina Kaif]. Her father Dr. Banton [Boman Irani], however, is dead against this relationship. Things take a turn when Deven's father passes away and he returns to London to stake claim on his father's wealth. He meets his two estranged brothers Gyanesh Yuvvraaj [Anil Kapoor] and Danny yuvvrau[Zayed Khan] after almost twelve years. But things aren't hunky-dory between them...
Ghai handles the dramatic scenes with flourish. Rahman's music is soothing, but you expect more because Ghai's movies are embellished with lilting music that you recall even after 2 or 3 decades. Kabir Lal captures the striking beauty of Europe well. The output is superb. The sets [Omung Kumar] are truly majestic.
YUVVRAAJ belongs to Anil Kapoor, who towers above the entire cast and delivers a natural, believable performance. Salman's looks are inconsistent. At times the boyish look is intact, at times he looks bloated. Ditto for his hairstyle. His performance, however, is better, mainly towards the finale. Zayed tries hard and convinces in a few scenes. Mithun Chakraborty is fantastic in a brief role.
Katrina looks angelic. Despite the focus being on the three men, she registers an impact. Boman Irani is credible, especially in the scene when he steps out of the Operation Theatre towards the end. Aushima Sawhney is confident. Anjan Srivastava and the pack of villains/vamps look straight out of RAM LAKHAN and TAAL.
On the whole, YUVVRAAJ is interesting in parts, with the penultimate 20/25 minutes taking the film to an all-time high. At the box-office, the package [a mammoth cast, Subhash Ghai, A.R. Rahman, the stunning locales of Europe] should ensure a hearty opening and with no major opposition in the forthcoming week, it should keep its investors smiling.
